Dominic Ford Productions (known as 3D X Productions in straight circles) is the premiere 3D Adult Production company. We are a full-service company that provides the following services. Please note: we can work with your existing production workflow to ensure we fit in seamlessly with how you do business. We can take on as much, as or as little, as you want.

Our top-of-the-line 3D rigs are proprietary, and have been refined constantly over the last two years. Compare our footage to other 3D footage and you will see the difference. Even a Sony Exec, upon looking at our 3D movies, said “wow, your stuff is better than most 3D feature films.” It has taken us a long time to refine our color algorithms and techniques. We colorize each movie based on its content to ensure the best color representation. Our unique camera rigs allow for extreme close-ups as well as wide shots.

Our Services

Storyboarding and Pre-Visualization

Direction/Co-Direction

3D Video Recording

3D Still Photography

3D Editing

Final render in 2D, 3D Anaglyph and 3D TV Formats

Green Screening and Special Effects

Full Studio and Equipment, or On Location

We work with companies in many different ways. You can either hire us to do everything from concept to editing and final render. Or, you can just hire us to film in 3D and perform the 3D edit based off of your 2D edit. That way, you retain as much control over the final work as possible.

Filming and producing in 3D is not just about having the right equipment. 3D Production is an art as much as it is a science. Having said that, we use the finest equipment available. We have a selection of 10 different 3D camera rigs that we use based on the client, budget and shooting style.

The rules of filming 3D are very different from the rules of filming 2D. Dominic Ford Productions (also known as 3DX Productions) has a lifetime of experience filming in 3D. Our flagship gay consumer site, DominicFord.com, has been releasing 3D movies for 2 years. There are almost 100 videos on the site.

Colored Glasses, Movie Theatre 3D, Etc…

Most people ask the question “What kind of 3D do you film? Do you need those colored glasses?”

This is actually not an accurate question. 3D is filmed one way. It is then rendered in different formats. The format is based on the display that will be used to watch the movie.

Traditional televisions and computer monitors can only display 3D using colored glasses. Colored glasses come in several varieties (red/cyan, yellow/blue, magenta/green). Each color combination has unique properties. Based on the content of the movie, we will choose the best color combination to accurately render your movie with the best coloring possible.

Movie Theatres and new 3D TVs are capable of displaying 3D without the need for colored glasses. The glasses these technologies use look like sunglasses. They come in two varieties: polarized (most common in theatres) and “shutter glasses” (most common in 3D TVs). Both of these technologies allow for a much more accurate color representation than the anaglyph (colored glasses) version of 3D. This format is special and different than the anaglyph render.

Moreover, different 3D TV manufacturers (including Panasonic, Sony and Samsung) accept different versions of 3D movies.

We are very well-versed in all these technologies, and have created 3D Movies for all of them. Depending on your desired output, we can render any and all of these formats. (So if you hear someone say “we shoot in polarized 3D,” it probably means they have no clue what they are talking about. One renders output for a polarized 3D display. One doesn’t shoot in polarized, or any of the various display technologies.)

Of course, we can render standard 2D formats as well. Plus, everything we shoot is in High Definition.
